At the time of his induction into the Thomas College Athletic Hall of Fame, Bob Wiles still stands as the most prolific scorer in the history of the Terriers Men’s Soccer program, holding records for both goals (47) and total points (116), in just three years of varsity play ending in 1975.
A native of Guildford, Surrey, England, Bob graduated from Waterville High School and was recruited to Thomas by Coach Bob Knisley, who quickly became aware of Bob’s skills while they were teammates on Stroh’s Strikers of the Maine State Summer Soccer League.
Though soccer was his favorite sport growing up, Bob’s love for another sport – darts – began early in his childhood when his parents owned and operated an English pub. From the first U.S. tournament he entered at Ferris Music in Madison, ME, to his induction in 2011 into the National Dart Association’s Hall of Fame, Bob is widely known throughout the industry not only for his playing skills and as a fierce competitor, but also as a highly respected factory rep at Arachnid, Inc., a leading manufacturer of soft-tip electronic darts. Acknowledged as one of the world’s leading dart ambassadors, Bob travels throughout the world meeting with distributors and operators who have come to rely on his expertise in electronic dart machine league and tournament operations.
A former fireman in his native England, Bob now resides in Pennsylvania with his wife Irina, and is the proud father of two daughters, a son, and six grandchildren.
