As Head Coach for the Forest Hills Boys’ Basketball program since 1997, Anthony Amero has complied nearly 300 wins over 22 seasons, winning three Maine Class D Championships, four Regional Championships, and four East-West Championships. In 2019, with an enrollment of 36 students, Forest Hills became the smallest public high school in Maine to win a State Basketball Championship.
Amero has been named Maine Association of Basketball Coaches’ Coach of the Year four times; in 2018, he received recognition by the National Federation of State High School Associations; and, in 2017, he was honored with the Pratt/Littlefield Lifetime Achievement Award from the East-West Conference.
Amero served on the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Association Board from 2001-2010, receiving numerous awards including the Rober Boucher 7th Player Distinguished Service Award; the Keith Lancaster Professional Development Award; the Past-President Award; and the Special Achievement Award. He also served as President of both the East-West Athletic Conference from 2011-2015 and the Pine Cone Middle School League from 2004-2013.
While attending Thomas, Amero began his coaching career at the age of 19 as Head Coach of Williams Junior High School’s 8th grade Girls’ Basketball team.
