Terriers Slug Their Way to Doubleheader Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Waterville, Maine – The Terriers took both ends of a double header as the Thomas offense exploded for 39 runs on the day. 
 
How it Happened:

Game One:
  • The terriers would come out swinging in game one, .Elijah Morton would reach on an error and come around to score on a Cam Haynes Single to Left, Haynes would advance to second with a stolen base, Matt Seymour would move Haynes up 90 feet with a sac fly before Samual Keblinsky would drive him in with a single to center. 
  • Terrier Starter Jarrad Willette would deny any chance of the owls responding as he retired 3 of the next 4 batters. 
  • Thomas would add one run in the second before the offense exploded, they would add three runs in the third thanks to RBI singles from Aaron Young and Jason Bartlett, and a RBI Double from DJ Cagnina
  • The hosts would break the game wide open in the 4th, Haynes would Double bringing home Tony Meza, Young would follow with a single that plated 2, Cagnina would bring home another with a bunt single, Thomas would plate two more in the inning to extend the lead to 12-0 at the end of 4.
  • Willette would continue to dominate on the mound, he and the Terrier pitching staff would combine to throw a 3 hitter while striking out 5. 
  • In the bottom of the 5th the Terriers bats would continue to do damage, Mitch Reagan would bring home two with a single, Javier Diaz would follow up with a RBI single of his own before Meza and Lucas Harmon would both earn bases loaded walks. 
  • The Terrier bullpen would see the game out after Willette departed at the end of the 5th.
  • The final score of game one ended at 17-0.

Game Two:
  • It was the visiting Owls that would get on the scoreboard first in game two, R. Harris would bring home G. Chadwick with a Single to right. The Damage was limited as Thomas would get out of the first with only one run against. 
  • Neither team scored until the bottom of the third when Thomas would strike scoring 5 runs, the first came when Morton would Double scoring two, Meza would being Morton home with a single to right, a Keblinsky sacrifice and a Patrick Temby single would bring home two more runs to give the Terriers a 5-1 lead after three full.
  • Thomas would add two runs In the 4th, in the 5th Thomas would pour it on, it began with a Morton single that plated Temby, Meza would earn a walk with the bases loaded to force another home
  • Haynes would come to bat with the bases loaded before unloading a ball deep to Left for a Grand Slam, the home run was Haynes first career home run, the blast extended the Terrier lead to 13-1.
  • Thomas wasn't done there, they would add three runs in the 6th, two in the 7th and three more in the 8th. 
  • UMPI would score three runs in the top of the 9th. Thomas would take game two by a score of 22-4.
