Ajay Rychcik and
DJ Cagnina have been named to the Maine College Baseball and Softball Asssociation All-State Teams. In addition to All-State honors, Rychcik was named to the All-Rookie Team. The Terriers went 20-21 overall this past season, and went 14-10 in conference play. The team was able to make it back to the NAC Championship Series, where they narrowly fell in a hard-fought matchup. This season was the third best single-season in terms of wins and losses in program history, and the second consecutive season of at least 20 wins.
Ajay Rychcik / MCBSA First Team All-State, All-Rookie Team - Rychcik had a historic first season for the Terriers, and was one of three players to start and play in all 41 games. His season culminated in a .364 batting average, 52 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 40 RBI, nine stolen bases, and a .434 on base percentage. Rychcik was also crucial for the Terriers in right field, using his vision and strong arm to help the Terriers get out of tough innings numerous times. For his efforts this past season he was named the NAC Rookie of the Year and to the NAC All-Conference Second Team.
DJ Cagnina / MCBSA Second Team All-State - Cagnina had a superb final season for the Terriers. Cagnina led the team in most hitting categories as a graduate student, including batting average (.376), hits (53), RBI, (42), and started in every game this season for the Terriers at first base. Cagnina's timely ability to make big plays both at the plate and at first will be greatly missed heading into next season. Cagnina also set the all-time doubles record for the program, earning 44 throughout his time at Thomas to make history. For his efforts this past season he also earned NAC Second Team All-Conference honors.
