Box Score

WATERVILLE, ME - Max Hansson scored in the 86th minute to lift the men's soccer team past Lyndon 2-1 on a rainy afternoon at Smith Field. Thomas (6-2-2, 3-0-1 NAC) held a 23-6 shot advantage and Dakota Duplissie had a team-high 13 shots with three on goal.

Duplissie was very active early on, registering five of the six shots for Thomas in the first 15 minutes of action. It wasn't until the 24th minute when Duplissie would receive a long pass from the midfield, dribble into his shot and beat Hornet goalkeeper Jason Marks to take the 1-0 lead. Duplissie's goal was his team-leading ninth of the season.

Lyndon (4-7, 0-4 NAC) would find an equalizer in the final few minutes of the half, when Youl Herjok took a free kick from the midfield line and it skipped off the header attempt by Lukas Bohman and past goalkeeper Winston Trott into the net for an own goal to even the score at 1-1 going into intermission.

The second half took a turn as a total of six cards were handed out, and neither team was able to find much of a rhythm. Both goalkeepers kept the score tied as Trott registered his two saves in the second half and Marks three of his six.

When it appeared the match was headed for overtime, Hansson received a pass from Duplissie and fired a shot over the outstretched hand of Marks from about 35 yards away for what was ultimately the game-winner. It was Hansson's fifth goal of the season.

The win keeps the Terriers among the top of North Atlantic Conference standings.

The men's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, October 7, when they travel to take on Husson. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
