Men's Soccer's Comeback Bid Falls Just Short in Thrilling Colby College Matchup

Waterville, ME - Men's Soccer's comeback bid fell just short against the Colby College Mules on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026. The final score was 2-3 in what was a thrilling Elm City matchup.

How it Happened:
  • The Mules started off the game well, controlling most of the possession in the first 20 minutes.
  • Nine minutes in Terrier goalkeeper Jamie Fischer was called into action, making a quick save.
  • He followed up two minutes later with a diving save to keep the scoreline at 0-0.
  • In the 27th minute the Mules found the breakthrough, scoring on a shot low to the right corner to make it 0-1.
  • Just five minutes later a double deflection saw the Mules score again, taking a 0-2 lead.
  • Fisher was able to make one more save in the half, while a shot from Gustav Franzen was blocked, and the Terriers found themselves down 0-2 at halftime.
  • The Terriers looked like a brand new team in the second half, controlling much of the ball.
  • Shots from Zayin Clugh, Adam Elkott and Daud Abdi forced two good saves from the Mules goalkeeper.
  • In the 72nd minute a strong shot from Jeremiah Gomez hit off the goalkeeper, and Brewer Osteen was there to tap in the rebound to grab a goal back.
  • However, the Mules punched right back in the 75th minute, scoring from a free kick to make it 1-3.
  • Despite the goal the Terriers continued their pressure, eventually finding another goal in the 83rd minute.
  • A cross from Franzen found the head of Andrew Hodgins, who tucked the ball into the net to make it 2-3 with seven minutes to go.
  • In the 86th minute a strong shot from David Ivarsson required another great save from the Mules goalkeeper.
  • The last chance for the Terriers came minutes later, when Clugh's shot toward the bottom right corner was saved, leading to a 2-3 loss.
