Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas men's soccer team rode five-unanswered second half goals to defeat the University of Maine at Farmington 5-0 on a cold and rainy Wednesday evening at Smith Field.
The first half was controlled by Thomas (8-4-2, 5-1-1 NAC) as they outshot the Beavers (1-13-1, 1-6) 10-3, including 5-2 in on-goal shots. Dakota Duplissie and Tre Ming each recorded two shots on goal for the Terriers, but were denied by UMF goalkeeper Matt Wilson.
Thomas keeper Winston Trott recorded two first half saves.
In the second half, the Terriers began to open up more on offense, as they struck for the game's first goal in the 57th minute, when NAC leading goal scorer Dakota Duplissie received cross from Simon Hagelin and tapped it in for his 13th goal on the season and gave Thomas the 1-0 lead.
No more than three minutes later, the Terrier offense find the back of the net again, as Duplissie gave Ming a lead pass that he put home to bump the Thomas lead to 2-0.
The Terriers would add on to their lead as Ming would find William Nilson for his second goal on the season to increase the lead to 3-0.
Max Hansson added the fourth Terrier goal on a through ball from John Flores-McKenna and shot it top right to beat Wilson. It was Hansson's sixth goal on the season.
Defender Lukas Bohman would score his first goal of the season no more than a minute later off a corner kick assist from Marcus Johnson, capping off the scoring on the evening.
Thomas would outshoot UMF 26-7 on the night, with 14 of those on goal. Duplissie continues to lead the NAC in goals and points, while Ming leads in assists and is now tied for second in points.
Trott registered four saves in net for the Terriers, while Wilson notched nine saves for the Beavers.
The men's soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 25 when they play host to Colby-Sawyer, who is currently atop the conference at 6-1.
