Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas won their second North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game in a row, defeating Husson 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. Dakota Duplissie had a goal and an assist in the win. The Terriers improve to 7-6-1. 4-2 NAC on the season.
The Terriers took just eight minutes to get on the board, as Duplissie hit his team-leading eighth goal on a through pass just inside the box from Joshua Phelps, beating the keeper on the far post. It would be Duplissie setting up Tre Ming on the second tally with a pass just outside the box that Ming dribbled in and beat the Eagles keeper Brian Potter one on one.
Thomas' Kristian Pettersson recorded his first collegiate goal just before the opening period ended from a Kenny Cano feed in the box to give the home side a comfortable 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half would be much of the same, as Thomas continuing to put pressure on the Eagles defense. Mikal Simmons gave the Terriers their fourth goal of the game, his first in a Thomas uniform at 72:43 getting a pass from Phelps, who beat Potter then passed to the other side of the net to a wide open Simmons.
Overall, Thomas outshot Husson 27-8 on the game, their second highest total shots in a game this season.
Potter made a game-high eight saves for Husson, while Mikkail Crockwell had four stops in the win.
With the win, Thomas has evened the series with the Eagles to 5-5-1 since 2003 when both teams joined the NAC. The Terriers however have won four out of the last five matchups between the in-state foes.
The squad will be on the road for their final away match of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 as they travel to University of Maine at Farmington at 3pm.
