Men's Tennis Celebrates 2026 Home Opener With 6-1 Win Against Norwich

Waterville, ME - Men's Tennis earned a dominant 6-1 win against Empire 8 Conference foes Norwich University in the 2026 Home Opener on Saturday, March 21st, 2026. Despite matching up against Norwich, the countable conference contest will take place later in the season.

How it Happened:
  • At #1 doubles Thai Nguyen and Casey Duncan teamed up, but fell short 4-6.
  • In the #2 spot Camden Herrick and Dominic Clifford were able to earn a 6-1 win.
  • To wrap up doubles, #3 team Nick Magiera and Ricky Salazar earned a crucial 6-3 win to take a point from Norwich, making the overall match score 1-0.
  • At #1 singles Nguyen was able to squeeze out a three set thriller, falling 4-6, then rebounding to win 7-6 and 10-8 to earn the win.
  • Clifford in the #2 spot played well, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win.
  • At #3 singles Herrick fell in a hard-fought matchup, 6-7, 4-6 to make the score 3-1.
  • Calvin Cutler at the #4 spot also went into three sets, winning 6-4, falling 4-6, then bouncing back to win 6-2.
  • Duncan was able to squeeze out a win at the #5 singles spot, winning 6-5, 7-6.
  • And finally at #6 singles Magiera earned a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory to make the final match score 6-1.

What's Next:
  • With the team's Sunday matchups against Lesley University postponed, the team will be back in action on Thursday, March 26th, when they take on the University of Southern Maine at home. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
