Men's Tennis Concludes Historic Season in Empire 8 Conference Semifinals

Augusta, ME - Men's Tennis matched up against #2 seeded Alfed University in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday, May 1st, 2026. The final score was 0-4 after several tightly contested matchups. The team concludes their season with a 13-3 overall record, one win shy of the most in a season in program history.

How it Happened:
  • Thai Nguyen and Casey Duncan once again teamed up at #1 doubles, but eventually fell after a hard fought match 3-6.
  • At #2 doubles Dominic Clifford and Camden Herrick fell 0-6.
  • Ricky Salazar and Nick Mageria had a 5-2 lead, but due to playoff rules, as soon as Alfred won two doubles matches all other matches immediately concluded, giving Alfred a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
  • At #1 singles Nguyen put on a fantastic performance, winning 7-6, and was up 5-1 in the second set when the match concluded.
  • Clifford at the #2 spot fell 1-6, 1-6, giving Alfred a 2-0 lead.
  • At the #3 singles spot Herrick put in a strong performance, but ultimately fell 6-1, 2-6, 2-6, making the overall score 0-3.
  • With only one win needed to clinch the playoff victory, Calvin Cutler fell 0-6, 2-6, to make it 0-4, clinching the win for Alfred.
  • Duncan and Magiera began their matches at #4 and #5 singles, but did not conclude them due to playoff rules despite being up 5-4 and 5-2 respectively.
  • With the loss, the team concludes their season with a 13-3 overall record, one win shy of the most in a single season in program history.
