2026 Men's Tennis Season Preview

3/19/2026 3:08:00 PM

The 2026 Men's Tennis season has arrived, and student-athletes competed in their first matches of the season this past weekend, earning a 6-1 win at Brooklyn College and a 6-1 win at Hunter College.

Head Men's Tennis Coach Rob Disch has been able to recruit three new talented members to the team, and the team will look for these three newcomers to make an immediate impact on the team's success. Coach Disch had this to say about this incoming class: "We have a good group of first years that should help us at the top of the lineup and give us depth." These three new student-athletes are as follows:

Noah Cook – Bowdoin, ME – Mount Ararat High School
Thai Nguyen – Raleigh, NC – Wakefield High School
Ricky Salazar – San Benito, TX – San Benito High School

Coach Disch will look to bring together these new student-athletes with the returners to help bring the team back to the playoffs. A few key contributors Coach Disch wanted to highlight were Thai Nguyen, Dominic Clifford, Camden Herrick, and Casey Duncan. Those individuals will look to compete near the top of the lineup and will bring a competitive edge to the squad.

Looking ahead at this season, Coach Disch has laid out several goals that he would like to see the team achieve. "Our team goal is to make the conference tournament and hopefully farther, and for the guys on the team to have a positive experience. We always strive for a .700 record, and I am anticipating we do well in the Eastern Division. Individually, I am looking for the guys to improve their strokes and match play, both physically and mentally."

Men's Tennis will enter their second straight season of competition in the Empire 8 Conference. There the team will have the opportunity to compete against several top-tiered schools from across New England, with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament up for grabs for whoever wins the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Coach Disch wanted to emphasize a few key matchups against high-level opponents. The team will take on Norwich University, both home and away, and will travel to take on Bridgewater State University on April 8th and will also travel to take on the University of Hartford on April 12th.
