5/28/2025 1:12:00 PM

Waterville, ME – Maggie Mehan, an Assistant Coach for Women's Basketball this past season, has been promoted to Head NCBBA Women's Basketball Coach. In this full-time role Mehan will also serve as an NCAA Assistant Coach for the Women's Basketball program.

Vice President of Intercollegeiate Athletics Christopher Parsons stated "Maggie has been a valuable part of our team, consistently demonstrating dedication, leadership, and a collaborative spirit. Her promotion reflects the trust we have in her abilities and the positive impact she continues to make."

Mehan has coaching experience at several different levels of basketball, including High School, AAU, and several different levels of Collegiate basketball. Mehan got her start in NCAA Division I athletics, serving as a Student Manager for the University of Kansas's Women's Basketball team in the 2016-17 season. From there Mehan went on to graduate from Kansas in 2019 and became a Graduate Assistant for the Women's Basketball program at Goucher College from 2022-24. Last season she served as an Assistant Coach for our Women's Basketball program and had several key responsibilities such as creating scouting reports, implementing practice plans into workouts for the team's post players, building schedules, and other day-to-day responsibilities.

When asked about what she's looking forward to most, Mehan stated that she is excited to start recruiting for her team. The Women's NCBBA program offers student-athletes the opportunity to continue to play their sport after high school, but not with the full-time commitment that comes with most college sports. Mehan described her short-term and long-term goals for the program as follows: "My short-term goal is to have our first official tip off for the Women's NCBBA team later this year! Long-term, I hope to create a program that fosters basketball development while supporting academic interests. I also hope to be at top of our Women's NCBBA Conference in the years to come!"

Mehan wanted to thank Head Women's Basketball Coach Gavin Kane for laying the groundwork with the NCBBA Women's Basketball program, as well as Christopher Parsons for the opportunity to serve on the NCAA team and NCBBA team.

Mehan is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and received her bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of Kansas in 2019. She went on to receive her Master's degree in Athletic Program Leadership & Administration from Goucher College in 2024.
