Waterville, ME - Club Women's Basketball hosted the UMaine Club Basketball team on Sunday, February 15th, earning a doubleheader sweep over the Black Bears in the Terriers' home opener. The Terriers secured a hard-fought 58–57 victory in game one thanks to a late game-winning layup from junior Brooke Jones and defeated the Black Bears in game two in decisive fashion by a final score of 59–45.

How it Happened:

Game One: Thomas 58, UMaine 57

• The Terriers claimed the momentum after two quarters of play, holding a 30-25 lead heading into the half.
• The Black Bears found a response in the 2nd half with an offensive surge, claiming a 56-57 lead with just over 30 seconds remaining in regulation.
• But a clutch finish in the paint from Jones in the final seconds of play ultimately secured a 58–57 victory for the Terriers over the Black Bears in game one.
• Jones led all scorers in the Terriers' game one victory over the Black Bears, finishing the contest with 24 points.

Game Two: Thomas 59, UMaine 45

• Deep three-pointers from Jones got the Terriers offense going in the first half of play.
• The Terriers continued to extend their lead behind clutch points from Jones, but the Black Bears continued to chip away at their deficit.
• Despite a late offensive push from the Black Bears in the fourth quarter, the Terriers held on to claim a 59–45 win in game two to secure the sweep.
• Jones delivered another strong performance in game two, finishing with 29 points to help lead the Terriers past the Black Bears.

• Club Women's Basketball will be back in action on Saturday, February 21st, hosting the Boston University Club Women's Basketball team in a doubleheader. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
