Thomas Softball Eliminated in NAC Tournament After Two Tough Losses

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Oneonta, NY – The Thomas College Softball team faced a challenging day at the Championship Tournament, starting in the winner's bracket against #1-seeded Husson University. The Terriers fell 10-1 in Game 1, sending them to the loser's bracket, where they faced SUNY Cobleskill. Despite holding a six-run lead, Thomas ultimately lost 8-7 to the Tigers, bringing their 2025 season to a close.
 
Game 1: Thomas 1, Husson 10
How It Happened:
  • The Terriers struggled offensively, managing just four hits in the game.
  • After two scoreless innings, Husson's bats came alive in the third, scoring five runs on seven hits.
  • The Eagles added another run in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0.
  • Thomas got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Carlie Jarvias hit an infield single, followed by a single from Megan Oberholzer. After Mackenzie Toner reached on an error, Teresa McLinden singled to center field, scoring Jarvias to make it 6-1.
  • Husson sealed the game with four runs in the sixth inning, capitalizing on four hits and a Thomas error.
  • The game ended after six innings with a 10-1 loss for Thomas.
Inside the Stats:
  • Pitcher Megan Oberholzer threw six innings, striking out two, walking three, and allowing 14 hits. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
 
Game 2: Thomas 7, SUNY Cobleskill 8
How It Happened:
  • Cobleskill started strong, scoring one run in the first inning on two hits.
  • Thomas tied the game in the bottom of the first with a solo home run by Oberholzer.
  • Later in the inning, Mackenzie Toner singled, and Kayla Duhaimes doubled, but both runners were stranded.
  • Pitcher Addy Boyce struck out three Tigers in the second inning, giving Thomas momentum at the plate.
  • Corrine Vasvary drew a walk, followed by a triple from Leah Knight to score Vasvary. Abby Farone added an RBI groundout, giving Thomas a 3-1 lead.
  • The Terriers extended their lead in the third inning with contributions from Oberholzer (single), Toner (hit-by-pitch), and McLinden (single). Vasvary singled to center to score Oberholzer, followed by RBI single from Knight and three run double Farone, bringing the score to 7-1.
  • Cobleskill chipped away with two runs in the fourth inning on one hit and added two more in the sixth, making it 7-5 entering the final inning.
  • In the seventh inning, the Tigers scored three runs on three hits, including a double, to take an 8-7 lead.
  • Thomas had a chance for a comeback with the top of their lineup in the bottom of the seventh. However, all three batters hit fly balls to the outfield that were caught, ending the game and the Terriers' season.
Inside the Stats:
  • Boyce pitched a complete game, striking out seven while allowing six walks and nine hits.
  • Oberholzer went 2-4 with a home run and one RBI.
