Abby Farone Named NAC Woman of the Year Finalist

Waterville, ME - Abby Farone, a standout student-athlete from Sandown, New Hampshire, has been named a finalist for the North Atlantic Conference Woman of the Year Award. This award is voted upon by the athletic administrators across the conference. The award is weighted by three main categories and a personal statement (10%). Those three primary categories are as follows: Service and Leadership (30%), Academic Achievement (30%), and Athletic Excellence (30%).

Farone was a four-year member of the Thomas College softball team and served as a team captain for the 2026 season. As the team's starting center fielder for four straight years, Farone was a consistent contributor to the program's success in her four years, culminating in two NAC postseason awards. Farone was awarded NAC East All-Conference Team in 2025, and NAC All-Conference Second Team in 2026. In four years Farone started 129 of 132 games, finishing with 57 hits, 12 doubles, 28 RBI, 11 stolen bases, a .959 fielding percentage, and nearly a .300 on base percentage.

Outside the softball field Farone was equally accomplished, finishing her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education with a 3.34 GPA, and is currently working on her master's degree. She was named to the Dean's List in 2024 and 2025, along with being named to the President's List in 2025. In her time at Thomas Farone was a Community Assistant, Student Ambassador, on the Athletic Event Staff, Student Senate, Campus Activities Board, volunteered at numerous organizations such as the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, the Harvest Hill Animal Shelter, along with several softball clinics and practices. Farone was also chosen by her peers to be a Class Marshall in 2025, then was chosen by peers to be the Graduate Speaker at commencement in 2026.

Farone is one of eight finalists for the NAC Woman of the year award, and the final voting results will be announced on June 23rd.
