Lynn, MA - NECBA Club Baseball went 1-1 in double elimination play in the NECBA Baseball Playoffs on Saturday, November 8th. The Terriers mercy-ruled the Brown University Club Baseball team by a score of 20-3, and fell to the Providence College Club Baseball team by a final score of 5-9.

How it Happened:

Game 1: Thomas NECBA Club 20, Brown University NECBA Club 3
  • Brown would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning.
  • But the Terriers would respond with 4 combined runs in the bottom of the 1st and 2nd inning to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Brown would tighten the contest in the top of the third inning with two runs scored.
  • But 16 combined runs in the 3rd and 4th inning for the Terriers would ultimately put the game out of reach, giving the Terriers a dominating 20-3 mercy-rule victory.
  • Terriers pitcher Evan Pupka would showcase an impressive performance on the mound, dealing 5 strikeouts and only allowing three runs in four innings pitched.
  • Trey Morby and Jack Michaud would lead the Terriers offense in game one, going for a combined 7-8 with 4 RBI's, and 7 runs scored.

Game 2: Thomas NECBA Club 5, Providence College NECBA Club 9
  • Providence College would jump out to any early lead in the top of the 1st inning scoring 4 runs.
  • After a slow start in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Terriers would respond with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game at 4-4.
  • The Terriers would take a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 3rd, but the Friars would reclaim the lead in the top of the 4th inning scoring 2 runs.
  • The Terriers would look to get the bats going late in the contest, but a strong performance from the Friars pitcher would keep the Terriers off the board.
  • Despite the Terriers comeback efforts, Providence College would ultimately keep the Terriers off the board and hold on to hand the Terriers a 5-9 loss.
  • Nick Griffel would lead the Terriers offense in game two, finishing the game batting 2-4 with 3 RBI's and one run scored.
