NECBA Club Baseball Takes Decisive 14-2 Mercy-Rule Victory Over UNE Club Team

Waterville, ME - NECBA Baseball hosted the University of New England Club Baseball team on Monday, October 13th, and would take a decisive mercy-rule victory over the Nor'easters by a final score of 14-2.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would seize the momentum early on, driving in three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Terriers would continue to keep the bats going in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd inning, scoring one run in the 2nd, and seven runs in the 3rd to make it a 11-0 game.
  • The Terriers would extend their lead even further in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring three additional runs to give the Terriers a 14-0 lead.
  • UNE would look to extend the game in the top of the 5th inning with two runs scored, but the Terriers would ultimately shut down the Nor'easters and claim a 14-2 mercy-rule victory.
  • Terriers starting pitcher Evan Pupka recorded six strikeouts while allowing seven hits across five full innings.
  • Derek Martin and Robby Neese powered the Terriers' offense in the mercy-rule win over the Nor'easters, going a combined 5-for-6 with seven RBI's. 

What's Next: 
  • The Terriers will return to action on Tuesday, October 14th, traveling to Augusta, Maine to take on the University of Maine at Augusta in a 9-inning contest. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM at Cara Complex.
