How it Happened:

Game 1
  • Early in the first inning the Terriers found themselves with Layla Pickering at third base threating to score but were unable to get her across before three outs were made.
  • The Monks started scoring immediately in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs off three hits, which include one double.
  • A quick second inning for the Terriers led to three more runs to be scored by the Monks, this time off four hits.
  • In the top of the third Thomas was able to get bases loaded off three walks and fielders' choice hits but could not capitalize in the moment.
  • Saint Joe's adding another three runs in the bottom of the fourth after three Thomas errors and one hit, bringing the score to 9-0.
  • The top of the fourth brought the two Thomas runs. Kayla Duhaime was the first one base after getting hit by a pitch, then first year Rileigh Fortin singled up the middle moving Duhaime to second. Cate Fairbrother-White would then put down a bunt single loading the bases up.
  • A passed ball scored would score the first Thomas run, as Duhaime crossed the plate. The second run came after Jennie Whitten singled up the middle scoring Fairbrother-White.
  • The final run came in the fifth inning which also ended the game early after a sac RBI brought in the 10th run of the Monks.
Inside the Stats:
  • First Year Brooklyn Federico started the game in the circle for the Terriers and pitched two of the five innings.
  • Whitten then came into pitch for Federico at the bottom of the third, allowing only three hits and one earned run.

Game 2
  • The Monks immediately got on the board and had high momentum after three runs scored in the first inning. Two came from a two-run home run hit by the #3 batter.
  • A St. Joe's double in the second inning brought in the fourth run of the game.
  • The top of the third was when Thomas scored their two runs of the game. Makayla Panich reached first on a walk then quickly scored from a double to right center by Pickering. Leah Knight then singled and helped cause an error by the Monks pitching which helped bring in Pickering for the second run.
  • The Monks did not let the Terrier runs phase them as they went on to add three more in the bottom of the third inning.
  • In the top of the fourth Thomas rallied to get bases loaded but could not get a run across.
  • No more runs were scored in the last four innings, bringing the final score to 7-2 Saint Joseph's.
Inside the Stats:
  • Panich reached first more than any other Terrier in game two after two walks.
  • Pickering ended with 1 double and 1 RBI.
