Box Score 2 Waterville, ME – Thomas College Softball played a NAC doubleheader against the UMPI Owls and ended dropping both games in the series. In game 1 the Terriers took a close 5-4 loss, followed by a 6-3 loss in game 2.

Game 1:
How it Happened:
- The Owls were the first on the board scoring 2 runs in the top of the second off two hits
- Two back-to-back doubles from Kayla Duhaime and Jennie Whitten gave the Terriers momentum in the bottom of the second inning. Katy McIntyre would put a ball in play at third base scoring the second run, bringing the score to 2-2 at the end of the second.
- UMPI kept pushing as they went on to score two more runs in the third off two hits and one error.
- Thomas did not back down and tied the game again as Megan Oberholzer hit an RBI bringing in Layla Pickering, followed by a double from Graduate Student Maddie Rock scoring Leah Knight.
- The next two innings were quiet for both teams, until the Owls scored their final run in the top of the 6th off a home run.
- The Terriers were unable to get a run across leaving two runners on base in both the sixth and seventh innings, final score 5-4 UMPI.
Inside the Stats:
- Whitten; 2 hits, 1 RBI, 1 run
- M. Rock; 3 hits, 1RBI
- Addy Boyce pitched the full 7 for the Terriers, ending with 5 strikeouts and walked only 1 batter.
Game 2:
How it Happened:
- In game 2 the Terriers were the first to get on the board in the bottom of the first. M. Rock hit the first RBI bringing in Pickering who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. Oberholzer hit the next RBI bringing around Knight, who had a bunt for a single during her at bat.
- It wasn't until the top of the third when the Owls would take the lead, 4-2 after two singles and two doubles were hit.
- Three quick innings would pass until the Terriers scored their third and final run in the bottom of the sixth. Pickering leaded off the inning with a double to right center, she then stole third and due to an error by the shortstop was able to steal home.
- The Terriers would have runners at second and third with one out but were unable to get runners in.
- In the seventh inning, the Owls added three more runs, taking us the final score of 6-3.
Inside the Stats:
- Brooklyn Federico pitched the 7 innings for the Terriers, striking out three batters and only walking two.
What's Next:
The Terriers will travel to Standish, Maine to take on the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Munks in a doubleheader at 4 and 6pm.
