Vikings Win Closely Fought Matches Against Terriers

SALEM, Massachusetts – The Terriers took on Salem State University on April 11th, 2024. The day concluded with an overall score of 6-3 in favor of Salem State. The Terriers fall to 4-2 on the season while the Vikings improve to 2-5.
 
The Records:
Thomas College 4-2
Salem State University 2-5
 
Doubles:
At #1 doubles Terriers Gabe McPhail and Liam Gould took on Cory Cherico and Mark Wood. The match ended with a score of 4-8 in favor of the Vikings.
At #2 doubles Terriers Calvin Cutler and Seb Soto took on Quentin Wilkins and Kevin Merino-Rivas. The match would conclude in an 3-8 score in favor of Salem State.
At #3 doubles Terriers Nick Magiera and Caleb Daigneault took on Josh Gruber and Michael Muttiah. This one would go in favor of the Terriers duo winning 8-2.
 
Singles:
At #1 singles McPhail would take on Wilkins. McPhail would drop both sets against Wilkins by a score of 3-6 and 1-6.
At #2 singles Soto took on Cherico. Soto would end up coming short against Cherico losing a closely fought match 3-6, 2-6.
At #3 singles Gould would take on Wood. Gould wouldn't find his stride against Wood, dropping both his sets 1-6, 4-6.
At #4 singles Cutler would take on Merino-Rivas. Cutler would finish on top in a grueling three set match winning with set scores of 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
At #5 singles Kegan Rodrigue would take on Gruber. Rodrigue would drop his first set against Gruber 4-6. Rodrigue would bounce back in a big way taking the second set 6-0, But ultimately fell short at the end losing to Gruber in an 8-10 tiebreaker set.
At #6 singles Magiera would take on Muttiah. Magiera would take care a business routing Muttiah with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
 
What's Next:
Terrier Men's Tennis will come back home to take on the SUNY Delhi Broncos in a double header on Saturday, April 13th starting at 11:00 am EST at the Alfond Athletic Center right here in Waterville, Maine.
