Box Score 2 Kissimmee, FL – Thomas College drops in close games on their second to last day of their Spring Break Trip. First against Muskingum, the Terriers fell 2-1 with the winning run scored in the final inning. They then fell 4-2 against Marietta in the second game of the day.
Game 1 Muskingum University 2-1 Loss
- The Terriers were close to scoring a run in the top of the first as lead-off batter Layla Pickering walked and Megan Oberholzer advanced her to third. Maddie Rock loaded the bases by walking, but Thomas was unable to get a run in.
- Quick innings went by for both teams until the top of the fourth where Thomas scored the first run of the game after Oberholzer hit a double to left field. Leah Knight came in to pinch run and advanced to third off a wild pitch. She then crossed home thanks to M. Rock hitting a single up the middle.
- The Fighting Muskies came close to adding a run in bottom of the fourth but Oberholzer was able to get a reverse k for the third out.
- It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth were Muskingum tied up the game after two singles to left field.
- The final run was scored by the Fighting Muskies after a tight play at home plate, final score 2-1.
- First Year Addy Boyce pitched the full game finishing with five strikeouts.
Game 2 Marietta College 4-2 Loss
- The Pioneers started off with momentum but left two on base after back-to-back flyouts.
- Thomas responded immediately after Pickering got on with a single to center field. Jennie Whitten was able to score her with a single to left center.
- Marietta followed that up with a run after a single hit in a walked batter.
- It was a rather quiet game until the top of fifth when the Pioneers got their second run after two hits. They then followed that up with two more runs in the sixth inning off four hits, but third baseman Emily Rock was able to shot the momentum turning a double play off a line drive.
- Once again Pickering started the inning off strong getting on base and making her way over to third. Oberholzer hit her in after an RBI to shortstop, bringing the score to 4-2 Marietta.
- Thomas was able to hold the Pioneers in the top of the seventh after center fielder Abby Farone started a great relay throw to M. Rock. Rock then shot the ball to catcher Kayla Duhaime who tagged the runner out at home.
- Whoever the Terriers could not gain the momentum to keep the game going, as they fell 4-2.
- Oberholzer pitched the seven innings for the Terriers ending with two strikeouts.

The Terriers play their final day in Florida, first against Northwestern St. Paul at 9:15 am followed by Simmons University at 11:30 am on Friday, March 8
th.
