Men's Tennis Begins 2024 Campaign with Emphatic Win Over Golden Eagles

Box Score LONG ISLAND, New York –– The Terriers took on the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's University Long Island on March 24th. The day concluded with an overall score of 7-2 in favor of Thomas College.
 
The Records:

Doubles:
At #1 doubles Terriers Gabe McPhail and Liam Gould took on Ryan Freeley and Nick Nemickas. The match ended with a score of 8-4 in favor of Thomas College.
At #2 doubles Terriers Calvin Cutler and Seb Soto took on Vinny Engle and Nolan Knipfing. The match would conclude in a perfect 8-0 score in favor of the Terrier duo.
At #3 doubles Terriers Nick Magiera and Caleb Daigneault took on Anthony Flaccomio and Dylan Von Brook. This match would go the distance as Magiera and Daigneault would edge out the duo from Long Island in a tiebreaker set. The match ended with an overall score of 8-7 and the winning tiebreaker set 10-6.
 
Singles:
At #1 singles McPhail would take on Freeley. McPhail would end up coming short losing in two sets against Freeley, concluding with a score of 1-6 and 2-6.
At #2 singles Soto would go the distance against Golden Eagle opponent Nemickas. Soto would drop the first set 2-6 but bounced back and took the win, beating Nemickas 6-2 and 6-4 in the final two sets. This would also be Soto's first singles win as a Terrier.
At #3 singles Gould would take on Engle. Gould was able to coast through beating Engle in two convincing sets, concluding with a score of 6-0 and 6-1.
At #4 singles Cutler would take on Knipfing. This match would prove to not be much trouble as Cutler would dominate his Golden Eagle opponent with a score of 6-1 and 6-1. This marks Cutler's first singles win of many as a Terrier.
At #5 singles Kegan Rodrigue would take on Von Brook. Rodrigue would ultimately fall short dropping the first set 4-6 but would lose his second set in a close-fought 6-7 defeat.
At #6 singles Magiera took on Flaccomio. Magiera would take care of business beating his Golden Eagle opponent in two sets, with a final score of 6-2 and 6-4.

Terrier Men's Tennis will come back home taking the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Tuesday, March 26th at 4:00 pm EST at the Harold Alfond Field House right here in Waterville, Maine.
