Softball Falls to Husson in Conference Doubleheader, While Currier Marks 100th Hit in Her Career

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bangor, ME – Softball traveled to play the Husson University Eagles in a doubleheader match up on Saturday, April 22nd at 1 & 3pm, which ended in the Terriers falling 5-0 in both games. Graduate Student Kelsey Currier had a momentous day, getting her 100th hit in game two of the doubleheader.
 
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (11-10), NAC (4-2)
Husson University: Overall (22-10), NAC (9-0)
 
Game 1
 
How it Happened:
  • Game 1 was the game of pitchers, as only seven batters got on base in the first four innings, four coming form the Terriers lineup with singles from Maddie Rock, Currier, and Katy McIntyre
  • The bottom of the fifth inning is when the Eagles scored four of their five runs, off three singles to the left side of the field
  • Still unable to move baserunners Thomas could not respond at the top of the sixth inning, leaving the momentum with the Eagles who scored their final run at the bottom of the sixth, final score 5-0 Husson
 
The Pitchers:
Currier got the start for game one in the circle, ending the game with seven strikeouts.
 
Game 2
 
How it Happened:
  • In game two the Terriers were able to contain the Eagles in the first few innings
  • Things looked promising at the top of the second when Kayla Duhaime and McIntyre were on first and second with one out, but an RBI hit did not come, still leaving the game scoreless
  • Again, in the third Thomas had Currier on second base after she got her 100th hit, which was a single to left field, Megan Oberholzer's hit a live drive ball to left field but right to the Eagles outfielder leaving Currier on second base
  • The Eagles added all five of their runs in the fourth inning, off four hits and a Thomas error, final score 5-0 Husson
 
The Pitchers:
First Year Oberholzer got the start on the mound for game 2, she ended the day with four strikeouts.
 
What is Next:
The Terriers will next host Northern Vermont University Johnson on Saturday, April 29th for a doubleheader game day, with times at 1 & 3pm.
