Baseballs Falls in Sunday Doubleheader Games Against Gordon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Wenham, MA – The Terriers traveled to Gordon College to play a doubleheader against the Scots on Sunday, March 2nd. After a short 5-0 lead in the first game Thomas ended up falling 9-13 in game one. Then in game two the Scots shut out the Terriers, ending with a 7-0 score.

Game 1:
 
How it Happened:
  • Thomas hit throw the entire lineup in the first inning scoring five runs right off the bat, off three Terrier hits and two errors from the Scots
  • After Gordon responded with one run in the bottom of the first inning, Thomas was able to add their sixth run scored by Matt Seymour, who got on base off a double. Nick Hutson hit Seymour in with a triple to left center, 6-1 Thomas
  • During the bottom of the second Gordon ended tying the game at 6
  • In the third, Jason Bartlett hit a double allowing him to score the Terriers seventh thanks to a RBI single by leadoff batter Elijah Morton, 7-6 Thomas
  • The Scots started leaded the game during the bottom of the third after seven hits allowed them to score seven runs, the Terriers made two pitching changes during this inning
  • Thomas's eighth run was a homerun from Hutson during the fourth
  • The games final run came from Thomas, as Tony Meza hit a double scoring Seymour who singled just moments before, 13-9 Gordon
 
The Pitchers:
Jarrad Willette started on the mound for Thomas and pitched the first two innings and recorded three strikeouts before being relieved in the third when Gordon went on a hitting streak. Zach Nickerson went in for Willette but was taken out before the third inning ended and replaced by Daniel May. May racked up three strikeouts after finishing out the third and fourth inning. Wyatt Thompson came in to close the game and ended with three strikeouts.
 
Game 2:
 
How it Happened:
  • Morton started off game two on the right note immediately getting on base and moving to third but could not get scored in
  • The second and third inning went scoreless by the Terriers, while the Scots added five of their seven runs in the third inning
  • The Terriers came close to scoring yet again in the fifth inning when Aaron Young found himself of third base with two outs, but the Terriers could not get the much needed gap hit to score him
  • The Scots added their last two runs in the sixth inning with a two run homerun
 
The Pitchers:
Garrison Paillet got the start in game two and completed two innings before being relieved by Andrew Pruell during the third inning. Pruell struck out the final batter in the third and then two more in the fourth inning. During the fifth inning Pruell had three up and three down. Tony Meza finished the game for Thomas, pitching the sixth inning and ended with two strikeouts.
 
What is Next:
Thomas College will travel to Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday, April 5th for a 3:30pm game against Bates College.
