Baseball Splits at Away Doubleheader Against Husson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bangor, ME – The Terriers traveled to Bangor, ME on Tuesday, April 18th to play a doubleheader against the Husson University Eagles. The Terriers split the NAC Conference games falling in game one 5-1, but then winning game two 5-1.
 
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (13-13), NAC (8-2)
Husson University: Overall (10-14), NAC (5-1)
 
Game 1
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers immediately got on the board in the first inning after Cam Haynes reached on a throwing by the Eagles, then scoring off a left field single from Jarrad Willette
  • The Eagles responded to the Terriers run, grabbing one run in the bottom of the first
  • Husson's final four runs came in the third inning off two doubles
  • The Terriers were able to get runners on base in the fourth through sixth inning but were unable to get them, final score 5-1 Husson
 
The Pitchers:
Terriers pitcher Tyler Cantey started on the mound pitching the first three innings. Daniel May then came in to pitch the fourth and fifth inning recording three strikeouts on eight at bats. Finally, Patrick Temby finished the game by pitching in the sixth seeing four batters striking out one of them.
 
Game 2
 
How it Happened:
  • Again, Thomas immediately got on the board in the first inning scoring Elijah Morton on and RBI hit by Haynes to third base
  • The Eagles added their lone run in the second inning off a Thomas error then double to center field
  • Neither team were able to bring in a run until the fifth inning when Thomas's Jason Bartlett singled to right field scoring Willette who walked earlier, 2-1 Thomas
  • Runs three and four for the Terriers got added in the sixth inning after Willette hit a two run homerun
  • At the top of the seventh Thomas had bases loaded with two outs trying to add one more insurance run when Haynes was walked bringing in Bartlett for the fifth run, final score 5-1 Thomas
 
The Pitchers:
Wyatt Thompson pitched the first five innings for the Terriers collecting his second win of the season, allowing only three hits, and recorded three strikeouts. Andrew Pruell then came in during the fourth finishing the last four innings seeing fourteen batters striking out five of them and allowing only two hits.
 
What is Next:
On Thursday, April 20th the Terriers will travel to the University of Maine to play a 5pm game against the Division I institution.
