Thomas College’s Fall Short in Final Home Game of the Regular Season Against the Huskies

Waterville, Maine – Men's Tennis took on the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine on April 12th. The day concluded with an overall score of 5-4 in favor of the University of Southern Maine.
 
The Records: 
Thomas College: Overall (10-6)
University of Southern Maine (1-6)
 
Jose Afonso would start off the Terriers campaign against the Huskies at the #1 singles spot taking on opponent Cole Ouellette. Afonso would fall short losing 6-1, 6-4 in sets.
 
Gabe McPhail would take on Zach Desmarias at the #2 singles spot. McPhail would get the win after a grueling second set against his opponent Desmarias the match ended 6-0, 6-7 in sets.
 
Liam Gould at the #3 singles spot would take on Ethan Rudnicki. Gould would not find much issue against Rudnicki beating him 6-0, 7-5 in sets.
 
In a game deciding match Nick Mageira took on Huskie's opponent Jakub Suran at the #6 singles spot in a grueling 3 set match. Mageira would drop the first set in a 6-6 tiebreak which ended 6-8 in favor of Suran. Mageira would fight back winning the second set 6-4 but would fall just short in the third set losing 5-7 in a grueling hard-fought match.
 
Afonso and Gould would team up once again at #1 doubles against opponents Zac Howe and Cole Ouellette where they would take care a business winning the match 8-3.
 
What's Next:
Men's Tennis will go on the road for the final game of the regular season against Bridgewater State University on Monday, April 17th at the Dr. Henry Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts starting at 3:30 pm EST.
