Baseball sweeps Russell Sage in Florida Day 1 Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Davenport, FL – Baseball started off their Florida Spring Trip out strong with two solid wins against Russell Sage College, winning the first game 11-3 and then the second 10-2.

Game 1:
 
How It Happened:
  • After two quick innings, the Terriers put together a big third inning to put 8 runs on the board
  • The Terriers even batted through the lineup, which started off with a single from Elijah Morton. Morton ended up being the first run scored by the Terriers as well as their eighth, all in the third inning
  • The Gators ended Thomas's run with a strikeout and got two on the board in the bottom of the third
  • Thomas kept a good momentum in the fourth adding two more runs to the board off of single RBI's from Matt Seymour and Morton
  • Russell Sage added their last run the in bottom of the fifth off an RBI Triple
  • The Terriers final run came in the seventh from DJ Cagnina batting in Morton who scored from second base
Pitchers:
Garrison Paillet picked up the win for the Terriers and was relieved by Tyler Cantey in the fifth inning. Cantey was relieved by Zach Nickerson in the sixth inning.
 
Game 2:
 
How it Happened:
  • A huge first inning secured the win for Thomas in game 2 as all ten runs were scored in the first
  • Four of the Terriers runs came from batters that were walked
  • Base hit singles are what tallied up the numbers for Thomas, as five Terriers hit singles in the first, with one double coming from Morton at his first at bat
  • Russell Sage didn't score their first run until the top of the fifth, then added one more in the sixth
 
Pitchers:
Nickerson started the second game for Thomas, getting the win for game two. He was relieved in the sixth inning by Dan May.
 
What is Next:
  • Baseball will play one game on March 6th against Clark University with a 10:30 am start time.
