Box Score 2 Waterville, ME – Softball played a doubleheader against the St. Joseph's Monks on Friday, March 24
th at Colby College. The Terriers went away from the day with two wins, taking a 10-5 win in game 1, and 6-5 seventh inning win for game 2.
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (6-8)
Saint Joseph College (ME): Overall (5-7)
Game 1:
How it Happened:
- The Terriers took a quick 6-0 lead in the first inning starting with Maddie Rock scoring Cheyenne Simpson on a single to right field
- First Year Megan Oberholzer then hit her first collegiate homerun bringing in Rock and Kelsey Currier
- Makayla Panich was then able to bring in two more runs off a single to center field before the Terriers brought in their final run of the inning after a wild pitch, 6-0
- The Monks were able to respond with two runs in the second inning
- First Year Katy McIntyre hit in the Terriers seventh run with a double to left field 7-2
- St. Joe's added a single run in the third inning after two base hits
- Thomas continued to add runs on the board, bringing in their eighth run of the game in the third inning off a double from Rock
- The Monks scored their final runs of the game in the fourth inning brining the game to an 8-5 score in favor of the Terriers
- After a few scoreless innings Thomas was able to add a few more insurance runs after another single form Panich and sacrifice fly from Leah Knight, ending with a 10-5 score
The Pitchers:
Currier pitched the full seven innings for the Terriers and picked up her third win of the season. Currier ended with an impressive eight strikeouts and only walking three batters.
Game 2:
How it Happened:
- The Monks were the first to get on the board right away in the first inning with a three run Homerun
- Thomas was able to get runs up on the board immediately as well, starting with Currier hitting a two-run homerun in the first inning
- The Monks extended their lead in the second inning adding two more runs on three hits, 5-2 St. Joe's
- The next runs scored did not come for another three innings when the Terriers were able to tie the game up a five in the fifth inning
- The three Terrier runs were scoring off two hits and two errors by the Monks, first with Abby Farone and McIntyre scoring off an infield error hit by currier, then a sacrifice fly from Oberholzer scoring Simpson
- It wasn't until the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs when the Terriers scored the winning run, as Oberholzer hit a line drive to left field bringing in Rock at thrid base
Pitchers:
Oberholzer got the win in the circle for game two, pitching the full seven innings. Oberholzer let up seven hits, walked two batters, and struck out two.

The Terriers will play their next games on Saturday, April 1
st against the University of Maine Presque Isle at home. Game times are at 1 & 3pm.
