Baseball Drops Doubleheaders with Eastern Nazarene Lions

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Watertown, MA – Baseball traveled to Eastern Nazarene College for a doubleheader game day against the Lions on March 19th. The Terriers dropped both games with a 12-3 score in game one and 13-2 in game two.

Game 1
 
How it Happened:
  • A big first inning by the Lions caused a 10-0 deficit the Terriers were never able to come back from
  • The Terriers were able to get their first hits from Nick Hutson and Jason Bartlett in the fourth inning bringing around and scoring Cam Hayes who reached earlier in the inning off a Lions error
  • Eastern Nazarene responded to the Terriers run in the bottom of the fourth reaching their final run score of 12
  • The Terriers final two runs came in the fifth inning with lead off hitting Elijah Morton starting off with a double, eventually scoring off an error. Followed by Matt Seymour being the last to cross the plate thanks to a sacrifice fly from Aaron Young
 
Pitchers:
Garrison Paillet started the game for the Terriers but was relieved by Tyler Cantey in the first inning. Cantey pitched until Wyatt Thompson came in to finish the game in the fifth inning. Both Cantey and Thompson recorded one strikeout.
 
Game 2
 
How it Happened:
  • The Lions were the first on the board starting off by adding two runs in the first inning
  • Hutson notched his second homerun of the season cutting the Lions lead to one run, 2-1
  • Thomas was able to tie the game up a 2 after Morton reached first on a hit to center field and Tony Meza hit a sacrifice fly
  • The Lions added three runs in the bottom of the third off two hits, 5-2
  • After a quick inning at bat for the Terriers the Lions were able to tally two more runs with one being unearned, 8-2
  • Run nine and ten from the Lions were scored in the fifth with both players from Eastern Nazarene getting on base off walks
  • The last three runs came in the sixth inning from the Lions off four hits and one error, 13-2
 
Pitchers:
The Terriers had five pitchers throughout game 2 starting with Zach Nickerson who pitched till the middle of the third. Nickerson ended with four strikeouts and allowing two hits. Daniel May came in for Nickerson in the third and finishing the inning. Andrew Pruell started the fourth inning pitching before Jarrad Willette relieved him during the inning. Willette pitched until the middle of the sixth inning with Roy Clayton finishing the batters, striking out two of the six.
 
What is Next:
Baseball travels back to Massachusetts next weekend with a doubleheader against Fitchburg State College on Sunday, March 26th with game times at 12 and 3pm.
