WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Thomas College men's tennis team ran its winning streak to three matches with a 9-0 non-conference win over Johnson State College on Wednesday at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
The Terriers (3-7) dropped just three games while posting a sweep in doubles. Senior Tyler Small (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) and sophomore Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine / Waterville) shut out Cole Hennessy and Alex Pakatar, 8-0, at the number one spot, while freshmen Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) and Nathan Philbrook (Rockland, Maine / Oceanside) posted an 8-1 win over Alex Harcourt and Connor Neathawk at the second spot. Seniors Joseph Greco (Greene, Maine / St. Dominic Academy) and Caleb Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) completed the sweep with an 8-2 win over Corey Nystrom and Pedro Perez at the third spot.
Thomas' strong play continued as play switched to singles. Small and Philbrook posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at first and fifth singles, respectively, while Disch topped Pakatar 6-0, 6-1 at the second spot. Mora and Greco posted matching 6-1, 6-0 wins at third and sixth singles and Munn recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over Neathawk at the fourth spot.
Thomas steps back into North Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon when it hosts Castleton. After that, Thomas ventures to Rhode Island College on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
