Men's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day With 9-0 Win Over Lyndon

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Thomas College men's tennis team sent its four seniors out winners in their final home dual with a 9-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Lyndon State College on Saturday at Alfond Athletic Center.

Prior to the match, seniors Sam Cook (Plymouth, Mass. / Plymouth South), Joseph Greco (Greene, Maine / St. Dominic Academy), Caleb Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) and Tyler Small (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) were honored for their contributions to the program.

The Terriers (8-7, 5-1 NAC East) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. Small and sophomore Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine / Waterville) defeated Trevor Updike and Jake LaCerda, 8-3, at the top doubles position, freshmen Nathan Philbrook (Rockland, Maine / Oceanside) and Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) topped Mike Sigsbury and Dominick Agresta, 8-2, at the No. 2 spot, and Mora and Greco shut out Dereck Kalnicki and Ben Park, 8-0, at the third spot.

In singles play, Small, Philbrook and Greco all posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at first, fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Disch added a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sigsbury at the No. 2 spot, Mora topped Agresta, 6-2, 6-0, at third singles and Munn topped LaCerda at fourth singles by a 6-1, 6-1 result.

The victory, combined with an 8-1 win by Colby-Sawyer over Castleton, allowed the Terriers to lock up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference East Division Tournament. The four-team tournament will be held Saturday, April 30 at Castleton University. Colby-Sawyer, which defeated Thomas, 8-1, on March 26 will be the top seed. Castleton and MCLA have also qualified for this year's tournament. The teams play their NAC match on Sunday, April 24, with the winner receiving the third seed. The loser will be seeded fourth.
