STOWE, Vt. --- The Thomas College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 9-0 shutout of Johnson State College at Top Notch Resort.
The Terriers (1-7, 1-1 NAC East) swept all three doubles matches without conceding a game. Senior Tyler Small (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) and sophomore Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine / Waterville) defeated Alex Pakatar and Greg Davis at first doubles, freshmen Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine / Brunswick) and Nathan Philbrook (Rockland, Maine / Oceanside) topped Corey Nystrom and Alex Harcourt at the second spot, and seniors Caleb Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) and Joseph Greco (Greene, Maine / St. Dominic Academy) shut out Richard Perez and Pedro Perez.
Small, Mora and Munn posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at numbers one, three and four singles, respectively. Disch topped Harcourt, 6-1, 6-0, at the number two spot, while Philbrook defeated Connor Neathawk, 6-0, 6-2, at the number five spot. Greco closed out the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Richard Perez.
Thomas returns to Top Notch on Sunday to face Lyndon State in a nonconference match before entertaining the Badgers (0-5, 0-1 NAC East) in a nonconference dual at the Alfond Athletic Center in Waterville.
