Terriers Secure Third-Place Finish in Conference with Win Over MCLA

WATERVILLE, ME - The Thomas men's tennis team overpowered MCLA for a 9-0 victory on Senior Day in their final match of the regular season. The win secured the Terriers a third place finish in the NAC. Seniors Eric Morin and Jonte Roussel were honored before the start of today's match.

In doubles match play, the Terriers (9-6, 4-2 NAC) took all three matches over the Trailblazers (4-6, 2-4 NAC) to get off to a 3-0 lead.

The No. 1 doubles team of Eric Morin and Tyler Small defeated Aaron Goldsmith and Robert Wabshinak 8-2. No. 2 doubles team Zachary Disch and Federico Trujillo pulled out a 9-7 win over Taylor Krowitz and Michael RooneyJonte Roussel and Caleb Cough took down Jeffery Mason and Tyler Russell 8-1 in the No. 3 slot to complete the doubles sweep.

Thomas continued their strong play in singles, as the Terriers went on to take all six singles matches and earn the 9-0 team victory.

Morin cruised in straight sets over Goldsmith in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. Small also won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles over Wabshinak. Disch made it three Terriers to win 6-0, 6-0 as he defeated Krowitz in No. 3 singles. Cough won the No. 4 singles match by defeating Rooney 6-0, 6-1Caleb Mora took the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-1 over Mason and Joseph Greco won the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-0 over Russell.

The Terriers will now head into the conference tournament as the third-seed and will be matched up against the second-seeded Castleton Spartans. The match will take place on Saturday, April 25 at 10:00 AM at Colby-Sawyer. The winner advances to play in the championship match against the winner of top-seeded Colby-Sawyer and fourth-seeded Green Mountain.
