NORWICH, VT - The Thomas men's lacrosse team held Johnson State to five goals, but could only generate three of their own in a 5-3 loss to the Badgers in a North Atlantic Conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Norwich University.

The Terriers (0-7. 0-4 NAC) got the game's first goal within the first two minutes, as Kade Strout took a pass from Colby Blondin and put in his first career goal at the 13:21 mark to snatch the early 1-0 lead.

The rest of the first quarter went along quietly, until a couple of goals were quickly scored in the final seconds.

Jefferson Lawler notched the equalizer with only seven seconds remaining, but Thomas quickly responded as Blondin won the faceoff and dished it off to Parker Chute who zipped it past Badger goalkeeper Jay Palmisano for the 2-1 lead to conclude the quarter.

Johnson dominated the second quarter, scoring three goals and keeping Thomas off the scoreboard. Nate Plocharczyk, Andrew Neddo and Anthony Iammatteo each scored once as the Badgers took a 4-2 halftime lead. Thomas was outshot by Johnson 25-2 in the half, but made the most of their opportunities, converting both shots into goals.

The third quarter was a battle as neither team could find the back of the net. The Terriers kept themselves alive by keeping the Badgers from growing their lead, until Neddo notched his second goal of the game with just 22 seconds left in the third, and Johnson took a 5-2 lead in the final quarter.

Thomas could not get a comeback started until 3:50 left to go, when Bryan Ferris put in his fifth goal on the season and brought the team within two, but that was as close as the Terriers would get.

Goalkeeper Connor Lamberton kept the Terriers in it, totaling 22 saves on the afternoon.

Thomas will return to the field on Saturday, April 4 when they return home to take on the Lyndon State Hornets at 5:30 PM.
