Thomas Falls to Husson in Conference Doubleheader

BANGOR, ME - Thomas College was unable to secure a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball victory, dropping a pair of games to Husson University. The Terriers fell in the first contest 5-1, then were defeated in the nightcap 5-0. 

GAME ONE

Husson was able to crack the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second as they scored a pair of runs to take an early 3-0 advantage. Haley Spiers doubled that scored Casey Lopes, and then Nicole Andrade singled to drive in Spiers. Sarah Babin then came in to score on a Kayla Merrill fielder's choice.  

Thomas was able to cut the deficit to 3-1 down to two in the top of the third when Alyssa Eugley advanced on a wild pitch to score Taylor Bergeron.

Husson added a run in the fifth and sixth inning to extend their lead and take the first game 5-1.

Kelsey Crowe suffered the loss in the circle giving up three earned runs over six innings. Bergeron went 2-3 with a run scored in the losing effort.

GAME TWO

Husson started off the contest scoring a run in the first inning when Breanna Martin singled to score Kayla Merrill. Chelsea Brennan homered to center to drive in two RBI in the bottom of the third, then Allison Hill singled to left field to drive home Spiers. Christine Cooners hit a solo homer in the sixth to extend the Husson lead to 5-0, which was the final.

Faith Robinson suffered the loss, going five innings with four earned runs and a strikeout. Ashlee Quirrion went 2-3 at the plate in the loss.

Thomas returns to action on Saturday when they host Johnson State at 10:00 AM. The seniors playing in the contest will be recognized prior to first pitch.
