Thomas Ousted by UMF, 81-46

WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas College women's basketball was unable to control a hot-shooting University of Maine at Farmington squad in the second half, falling 81-46 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tilt Tuesday night.

With the loss the Terriers fall to 2-7 (2-2 NAC), while Maine-Farmington improves to 4-7 (3-1 NAC) on the season.

The opening half saw neither team have more than a five point advantage, with the two conference rivals exchanging leads nine times. In a low scoring half, both teams defenses were able to cause their opposition to double digit turnovers.

Two points from the charity stripe for Lindsay Ranquist with two seconds remaining gave UMF a 25-20 advantage going into halftime.

Farmington's Ranquist led the opening period with 12 points, while Emilee Reynolds led the hosts with seven points.

UMF took control of the game in the second half, shooting a combined 61.1% (22-36) from the floor, in route to a 56-26 halftime advantage to pull the game out of reach for the Terriers. The away side led by as much as 36 with 1:15 remaining in the contest.

Ranquist finished with a game-high 22 points, while her teammates Kennadi Grover and Ayla Allen contributed with 17 and 16 points respectively.

For Thomas, Elizabeth Goodall and Lexi Merrifield had a team-leading 10 points each.

The Terriers finished shooting 29% (18-62) from the field, while the visitors went 29-63 (46%) in the winning effort.

With the win, the Beavers have won the last five matchups against Thomas, dating back to the 2011-12 season.

Thomas will travel to New Hampshire over the weekend as the Terriers take on conference foes New England College on Friday at 7:30pm and Colby-Sawyer at 3:00pm on Saturday.
