Women's Basketball Outmached in NAC Quarterfinals 36-49

Waterville, ME - #4 Women's Basketball was outmatched at home against the #5 seeded SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers by a score of 36-49 in the North Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals.

How it Happened:
  • The Fighting Tigers built a sizable lead in the first few minutes, making it 16-4 after the first nine minutes of the game.
  • Despite two free throws from Pryelle Kesse-Beda in the final seconds, the Terriers found themselves in a 10 point hole entering the second quarter.
  • The Terriers opened up the second with a 8-2 run to cut the Fighting Tiger lead to just four after a three pointer from Emily Hagerty.
  • Some intense defense from the Terriers and four points in the final few minutes from Elena Alderman made it 18-20 at the halftime break.
  • After a quick bucket from Kesse-Beda to tie things at 20, the Fighting Tigers went on a 9-2 run, taking a 29-22 lead.
  • Points from Kesse-Beda, Alderman, and Kay McLellan over the next few minutes and a late three from Mykey Avni made it 32-35 headed into the fourth quarter.
  • The Fighting Tigers turned up the defensive pressure in the fourth after the Terriers briefly took the lead thanks to McLellan and Maria Tomova, 36-35.
  • In the closing minutes the Fighting Tigers closed the game out on a 14-0 run, and eventually winning 49-36 in the NAC Quarterfinals.
  • Despite the loss, Women's Basketball had their most wins in program history, earning 16 wins and smashing the previous record of 14 wins.
