Box Score CASTLETON, VT- Thomas could not get its bats going, ultimately falling 3-0 to Castleton and ending the 2013 season in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Quarterfinals on Tuesday Afternoon.
Thomas concludes its season with a 10-24 record, while the Spartans improve to 16-19 overall.
Chelsea Crehan led off the bottom of the first with a single to left field. Kristy Pinkham moved her to second on sacrifice bunt and after a Jessica Babcock walk, Crehan went to third on an error by the right fielder. Fearon's sacrifice fly scored to give Castleton a 1-0 lead.
The Spartans added a run in the third as Babcock reached first on a throwing error and went all the way to third on the errant toss. Brittany Brayman drove her home with a groundout to shortstop.
Fearon concluded the Castleton scoring an inning later, singling to left and scoring Kristy Pinkham from first.
Thomas' best chance to score came in the fifth, as a single and an error put runners on the corners with one out. However, Lively induced a popup to Babcock at third and then struck out the next batter to end the frame.
Faith Robinson three all six innings in the circle for the Terriers, giving up two earned runs, seven hits with three strikeouts in the losing effort.
Junior Tori Fearon and senior Crehan combined for four of Castleton's seven hits on the day. Fearon also drove in two runs while Crehan walked and scored once.
The loss signals the end to the collegiate careers of Molly Woodward, Samantha Moore, and Kimberly Grant, who will all be graduating from Thomas this spring.
