Colby Defeats Terriers, 10-0

WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas was unable to come away with a victory versus crosstown rival Colby, falling 10-0 in a non-conference softball matchup on Wednesday evening. The Terriers fall to 3-18 on the year, while the Mules improve to 7-6.

Colby got on the board first in the top of the second, as Tori Sansone, who reached on a double, scored on double steal attempt. The away side would pull away in the top of the third, adding four runs. Emily Schatz drove in two runs on a single up the middle, while a double by Brianna Wheeler would drive in Schatz. Sansone would then pick up an RBI with a double to left field which scored Wheeler.

Colby would add two in the fourth and three in the fifth, while holding the Terriers to just two hits to secure the win.

Alyssa Eugley (Sidney, Maine) and Janelle Ciomei (Stonington, Maine) accounted for the two Terrier hits in the contest, while Crystal Cunningham (Dexter, Maine) reached base on a walk. McKayla Gastia (Mildford, Maine) was charged with the loss, throwing four innings, while Taylor Bergeron (Lyman, Maine) threw an inning of relief, yielding one run on one hit.

Wheeler led the Mules offensively going 2-4 with three RBI. Lauren Becker threw a complete game shutout, giving up two hits with three strikeouts.

Thomas will have a quick turnaround as they travel to conference rival Farmington tomorrow for a doubleheader. First pitch scheduled for 3pm.
