WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas (7-15, 5-11 NAC) fell to Lyndon State (6-15, 4-10 NAC) 70-64 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball matchup Sunday Afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. Senior forward Jasmine Bishop (Waterville, Maine) was recognized before the game by Coach Ted Rioux on senior day.
The Terriers held a one point lead, 25-24, after the first half of play. Thomas was able to jump out to a quick 5-0 advantage to start the game, but that would be the largest lead of the half for either team. The teams shared the lead throughout the first half, resulting in eight lead changes. Freshman Ashleigh Gagne (Waterville, Maine) drilled a three with under one minute to play to give the Terriers the advantage going into half.
In the first half, Megan Pelletier (Winslow, Maine) tied for the game-high with seven points to go along with her four rebounds. Gagne chipped in six points, going 2-3 from beyond the arc. For Lyndon, Emily Gray (Quincy, Mass.) had seven points while Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.) had eight rebounds.
The second half started with a bang courtesy of a three from Janelle Ciomei (Stonington, Maine) to get the Terriers off on the right foot. A layup from Pelletier gave Thomas their largest lead of the game, 10 points. Lyndon would take control of the game from there on, outscoring the Terriers 44-28 for the remaining 17:27.
Pelletier recorded a double-double with a team high 22 points and 12 rebounds for Thomas shooting 10-24 from the field. Katie McAllister (Pittston, Maine) chipped in 18 points going 7-14 from the floor. Lawson had a double-double with a game high 28 points and 17 rebounds shooting 10-20 from the floor. Gray chipped in 17 points for the Hornets.
The Terriers will return to action Tuesday February 12 at 7:30pm when they travel to Maine Maritime. The Terriers defeated the Mariners earlier this year at Thomas, 58-53.
