Box Score WATERVILLE, ME- University of Maine at Farmington (4-8, 4-3 NAC) defeated Thomas College (3-8, 2-6 NAC) 63-49, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball contest at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on Thursday night.
Farmington held the lead for the majority of the first half, with its largest lead being 12 at the 4:59 mark when the Beavers went on an 8-0 run.
In the first half, Thomas shot 34.8% (8-23) from the field, while the visitors responded shooting 37.5% (12-32) overall, adding four from downtown going 26.7% (4-15). Thomas held the slim advantage in rebounds 20-19 in the opening stanza.
UMF's Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) led the half with 15 points, while Jasmine Bishop (Waterville, Maine) had a game leading nine board for the home side.
Thomas was not able cut the deficit in the second half, as University of Maine at Farmington increased their lead margin throughout the second half, leading by as many as 20 at one points.
For the Terriers, Emilee Reynolds (Newport, Maine) recorded a team high 15 points, shooting 4-9 from the field and adding six rebounds. Bishop had a contest leading 13 rebounds in the loss.
Norton ended up with a game high 26 points for UMF in the victory, shooting 10-17 from the floor, and 2-8 from beyond the arc. Holly Oliver (Belgrade Lakes, Maine) chipped in with eight points and a team leading eight boards for the Beavers.
Overall, Thomas shot 33.3% (17-51) from the floor and 65.2% (15-23) from the charity stripe. University of Maine-Farmington shot 36.4% (24-66) from the field, 24.2% (8-33) from beyond the arc, and 53.8% (7-13) from the line. Thomas held the advantage in rebounds (47-35) in a losing effort.
Thomas will return to the hardwood this weekend as they travel to Northern Maine for the Star City Classic hosted by University of Maine-Fort Kent. The Terriers will take on University of Maine Presque-Isle to kick off the tourney on Saturday at 6pm.
