Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team lost a North Atlantic Conference matchup 101-80, at home Saturday afternoon to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer. Senior guard and NCAA leading scorer Karin Bird led the Terriers with team highs in points and assists, wrapping the game up with 27 points and seven assists. Colby-Sawyer's Taylor DeSanty paced the Chargers with the game high 28 points.

With the loss the Terriers drop to 3-17 (3-11 NAC) on the season, as the Colby-Sawyer Chargers improve to 16-5 (12-2 NAC).

The first half was a close battle as both teams' offense shot over 40% from the three-point line. Thoams guards Ashley Matchett and Lindsay Fry both went two for three from behind the arch, but Colby-Sawyer would answer with DeSanty and first year forward Kelsey Bragdon as the pair both went five for eight from three point land. Junior forward Jasmine Bishop added a strong first half performance for the Terriers scoring 11 of her 17 points before the break.

At the break the visiting Chargers held a 52-43 lead of the Thomas.

The game remained close at the beginning of the second half as sophomore guard Cassie Manning hit three straight threes for the Terriers. But it was sophomore Kate Thibodeau who gave Thomas their first and only lead of the game when she connected a three to put the Terriers a 60-59 lead. Just as it seemed the Terriers offense was about to start cooking, their shooters went quiet as DeSanty gave the lead back to the Chargers with a three of her own. Colby-Sawyer held onto the lead for the rest of the way staying consistent shooting over 40% from behind the arc in the second half. Junior guard Cailin Bullet had eight of her game high 13 assists in the second frame for the Chargers to go along with a 25 total point performance.

The Terriers next contest is at Johnson State on Friday February 10th, tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The Chargers will take on the Eagles of Husson University that same day at 5:30 p.m.
