Box Score 2 Bangor, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team (7-12, 4-2 NEAC East) played in their third straight doubleheader match on the road yesterday at Husson (15-11, 4-2 NEAC East). The Eagles won both games, 7-0 in the first and then 5-4 in the second game.
In the first game, Husson had a solid complete game shut out from pitcher Dan Beatham. The senior scattered four hits in his seven innings and struck out a pair. The Eagles opened up the scoring with five runs in the first, sending 10 batters to the plate. Rob Nutter had two hits for the Terriers and Bandon Rolfe was tagged with the loss.
In game two the Eagles picked up where they left off, scoring in the first inning on Shawn Smith's RBI double that plated Ethan Guerette. Thomas would answer back in the third inning, picking up their first run of the day when Cody Vigue doubled, allowing Daniel Ierardi to score from second.
The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take back the lead. Thomas came back in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs off the Husson bullpen. With a one run lead going into the last inning, the Eagles looked to closer Kyle Leeman, who struck out two to earn the save for Husson. James McLamb was tagged with his first loss of the season.
Thomas will be back in action Sunday, April 10 for a doubleheader at Bowdoin with the first game scheduled to begin at 12:00pm.
