Box Score 2 Bangor, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team (7-10, 4-0 NEAC East) completed the season sweep over Lyndon (2-10, 0-4 NEAC East) this afternoon. The Terriers won Game One 2-0 and then won Game Two 5-1.
In the first game Thomas' starting pitcher, Chris Farrar, threw a one hit shutout. Farrar recorded eight strikeouts and allowed only two walks in seven innings of work. Thomas scored both of their runs in the bottom of the third. After a Jeff Richardson single, Ben Goodall connected with a pop fly to center field that was lost in the sunlight by the Hornets' Korey Marsh. Richardson would score from first and Goodall ended up on second base where he would be the final run courtesy of a Rob Nutter single in the next at bat.
Hornets starting pitcher Shane Fleury worked six innings allowing only four hits, three walks, and striking out three. Lyndon had a chance to extend the game in the top half of the seventh when the go ahead run stepped up to bat with two on and two outs. Farrar would get Dave Deming to ground out to shortstop to end the game.
In the second game, Danny Burke had a no hitter going into the fifth inning and a 3-0 lead to work with. After a Hornets' single to end the no hit bid, Corey Lescault would drive in Lyndon's only run of the day off an RBI double.
Goodall would record two more RBI's for Thomas in the bottom of the sixth to give Burke another win on the year. Burke went seven innings allowing three hits, one run, a walk and striking out five. Lyndon's starter, Jeremy Schichtle, pitched five innings allowing eight hits, three runs, and two walks.
Thomas will be back in action tomorrow for another doubleheader. They will face Husson on the road to extend their NEAC East lead with the first game scheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
