Thomas Baseball defeated by Bates

Lewiston, Maine – The Bates Bobcats won 5-0 over the Thomas College Terriers (10-20, 7-5 NEAC) in a non-conference game Monday afternoon at Leahey Field.  

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Noah Lynd hit a RBI single scoring Ryan Sonberg and Bates got two more runs on RBI singles by Kevin McGregor and Gordy Webb.

Bates scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh when Pat Murphy hit a two RBI single scoring Noah Burke and Mike Ciummei to give Bates a five run lead. That was enough offense for Bates as they went on to win the game 5-0.

The Terriers used four pitchers during the game. Danny Burke pitched three innings and allowed two hits while striking out one. Eric Sucy pitched 2.2 innings allowing four hits and three runs and picked up the loss. Jake Chamblee pitched 1.1 innings allowing three hits and two runs. Tom Babb pitched the final inning allowing one hit and striking out one. Jeff Richardson hit a double while, Cody Vigue and Josh Gray both got singles for the Terriers.

For Bates Michael Spinosa pitched seven innings allowing three hits and striking out six while picking up the win. Bates top hitters were Murphy who went 1-3 with two RBIs and Burke who went 2-4 from the plate.

Thomas will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Farmington (4-17, 3-7 NEAC) for a double header conference matchup against Farmington.
