Thomas downed by Johnston State

Johnson, Vermont – The Thomas College Men's Tennis team (2-8, 2-6) was downed by Johnson State Badgers (3-3, 3-1) in a North Atlantic Conference match 8-1. The Badgers swept all three doubles points from the Terriers and went 5-1 in singles. Thomas senior Andrew Folan scored the lone point for the Terriers at the fourth singles defeating Ben Algar of Johnston State 6-4, 6-2.

Thomas travels to Lyndon State (2-3, 2-2) on Sunday to take on the Hornets in a North Atlantic Conference matchup.

1. Ryan Joy of Johnson State College (JSC) defeated Jeremy Cliff of Thomas College 1-0 in games, and then Cliff retired due to injury.

2. Chance Swafford of JSC defeated Matt Bolstridge of Thomas 6-1, 6-2.

3. Kyle Young of JSC defeated Mike Morris of Thomas 6-1, 6-1.

4. Andrew Folan of Thomas defeated Ben Algar of JSC 6-4, 6-2.

5. Peter Leblanc of JSC defeated Jesse Peasley of Thomas 6-3, 6-1.

6. James Dempsey of JSC defeated Josh Ross of Thomas 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles

1. Ryan Joy and Chance Swafford of JSC defeated Jeremy Cliff and Andrew Folan of Thomas 8-4.

2. Young and Algar of JSC defeated Morris and Bolstridge of Thomas 8-2.

3. Leblanc and Dempsey of JSC defeated Peasley and Ross of Thomas 8-0.
