Box Score 2 Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College Baseball team (9-16, 6-2 NEAC) played a conference doubleheader at home against University of Farmington (1-14, 1-5 NEAC) on Thursday afternoon. The Terriers won 5-4- in game one and 4-3 in game two.
GAME ONE
Farmington score first in the second inning when Jack MacVane hit a sac fly to centerfield, after Matt Levine doubled to right field, and advance to third on a pass ball. Next Zachary Keene singled to right field, and then stole second base and then score on an error by Terriers shortstop Jeff Richardson.
The Terriers tied it in the bottom of the second when Rob Nutter hit a homerun and Josh Gray scored on Jake Chamblee single to centerfield.
The Terriers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third when Daniel Ierardi single and then stole second and third base and later scored on a sac fly by Ben Goodall. Thomas scored two more in the bottom of the fourth when Taylor Livingston hit a RBI single and Chamblee stole home.
The Beavers started to comeback in the top of the seventh, when Alex Goldrup led off with a triple and was brought home by Ben Pearson double. Pearson then scored on a sac fly by Russ Schmelzer. The Terriers got the final out when Ian McAlister got thrown out trying to stretch a single into to a double to hold on to win 5-4.
For Thomas Chris Farrar pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and four runs. The Terriers got hits from eight of their nine batters.
The Beavers Brandon Galllagher pitched a complete game allowing eight hits, four earned runs while striking out three. McAlister went 2-4 from the plate for the Beavers.
GAME TWO
The Terriers score first in the bottom of the first when Nutter hit two RBI double scoring Goodall and Richardson. The Beavers scored three in the top of the third them a 3-2 lead. It would stay like that until the bottom of the seventh when John Charves and Ierardi both single with two outs and then Cody Vigue hit a double to score both runners giving Thomas the 4-3 win.
Thomas's Danny Burke pitched 6.1 innings allowing ten hits, three runs, while striking out four. Tom Babb came in to get the final two batters in the seventh to pick up the win.
Farmington's Casey Ashley pitched the complete game allowing eight hits, four runs, while striking out four in the loss.
Thomas will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Vermont for a four-game conference set against Castleton.
