Patrick McKenney, a standout student-athlete from Skowhegan, Maine, has been named a finalist for the North Atlantic Conference Man of the Year Award. This award is voted upon by the athletic administrators across the conference. The award is weighted by three main categories and a personal statement (10%). Those three primary categories are as follows: Service and Leadership (30%), Academic Achievement (30%), and Athletic Excellence (30%).
McKenney was a three-year member of the Men's Cross Country, Men's Indoor Track & Field, and Men's Outdoor Track & Field teams. McKenney consistently improved in his three years at Thomas, eventually culminating in several postseason awards and a NAC Championship. For Cross Country McKenney was named NAC All-Conference Second Team in 2024, and NAC All-Conference First Team in 2025. For Outdoor Track & Field, McKenney was named NAC Second Team All-Conference in the 4x400 Relay in 2024 and 2025, and was named NAC Second Team All-Conference in the 800 Meter. He also served as a team captain for both sports.
Outside of athletics McKenney was heavily involved both on and off campus. Some notable activities include Student Senate, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Thomas College Winter Carnival Committee, Thomas College CRU. McKenney volunteered at a MakeAWish fundraiser, and was named on the Dean's List all three years as a student. He won several awards such as the Thomas College Unsung Hero Award, the Terrier Award, and the Thomas College Dedicated Dog Award in his time at Thomas - all while graduating in three years with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management.
McKenney is one of several finalists for NAC Man of the Year award, and final voting results will be announced on June 24th.
