Emma Burr Qualifies for NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

5/22/2025 9:27:00 AM

Geneva, OH – Sophomore Emma Burr has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held this year at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field Facility in Geneva, Ohio beginning on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.

This past Indoor Track & Field Season, Burr was named an NCAA Division III Second-Team All-American in the Women's Pentathlon. She became the first NCAA All-American in program history after placing 15th in the nation.

Building upon her All-American season this past winter, Burr has put together another historic outdoor season. She broke six school records (many of her own) in the Women's Heptathlon, High Jump, Long Jump, and 100 Meter Hurdles. Burr also broke two North Atlantic Conference records in the Long Jump and High Jump.

In the Maine State Championship, held this year at Colby College on April 19th, Burr was named the Women's Track Events MVP of the meet, a high honor only given to one student-athlete out of 10 competing schools. In that meet Burr placed first in the Women's Heptathlon with 4,650 points, ranking her 11th in the nation at the time.

One week later at the NAC Championships, also held at Colby College, Burr had arguably her most dominant performance to date. She won six different events - the Women's 100 Meter, 200 Meter, 100 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin, and placed second in the Shot Put. For her efforts Burr was also named as the NAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year, earning the award in back-to-back seasons.

Burr's primary outdoor event, the Heptathlon, contains the 100 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, 200 Meter, Long Jump, Javelin, and the 800 Meter. Points are awarded separately for each event completed, and after those seven events the student-athlete with the highest point total wins.

Burr will begin competition in the Women's Heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships today beginning at 12:30 PM.
