2025 Outdoor Track & Field Season Preview

Waterville, ME - The 2025 Outdoor Track & Field Season has officially begun, with several student-athletes traveling to California to compete at Long Beach City College on March 15th. The Women's team will look to defend their 2024 NAC Championship title, and the Men's team will look to bounce back to reclaim the NAC Championship title after winning it in 2023.
 
This year will see several new faces added to the program. Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Ian Wilson and his staff have worked hard to bring in a total of 16 new first year students across the entire men's and women's teams. When asked about these incoming students, Coach Wilson emphasized their adaptability. "Our first years have done a wonderful job of learning, applying and embracing our high standards of performance and training.  We are very excited about having them with us and watching them develop into our future leaders". These 16 student-athletes are as follows:
 
Zackary Braun – Norway, ME – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School
Gage Bruns – Bucksport, ME – Bucksport High School
Carlton Dailey – West Paris, ME – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School
Brenden Francis – Alton, NH – Prospect Mountain High School
Julius Garcia – Springfield, MA – Springfield Central High School
Treaz Hardy – Hudson, FL – Hudson High School
Jauza James – Pembroke, Bermuda – Berkeley Institute
Michael Johnson – Bucksport, ME – Bucksport High School
CyMorie Mility – Trinity, FL – Sunlake High School
James Mooney – Augusta, ME – Cony High School
Yussif Musah – Kasoa, Ghana – Ejura Islamic Senior High School
Kara Anderson – Vassalboro, ME – Waterville High School
Alyson Ellis – Newport, ME – Nokomis Regional High School
Desirae Seeley – Milford, ME – Orono High School
Eliza Wheeler – Lee, NH – Oyster River High School
Mercedes Taungatua – Prospect, ME
 
Prior to every Outdoor Track & Field Season, the team competes in an Indoor Track & Field season, and it can help build toward peak performances in the spring. Coach Wilson had this to say about the importance of the indoor season: "We lay the base for our outdoor season during indoors. We are working on skill and fitness development all winter, and we see the rewards in the spring.  We even work on javelin during the winter!" When asked about the team for this upcoming season, Coach Wilson emphasized the strong culture and bonds that have been built. "The team is developing a great culture and bond. The standards of the team are modeled by the older members of the team, and we owe them a huge debt for being such great role models." Coach Wilson also highlighted several student athletes who he expects to make a big impact. These student athletes are as follows:
 
Treaz Hardy – First year second semester addition with potential to shatter several school records, competes in high jump and had a qualifying jump for indoor New England Championships in the winter.
Patrick McKenney – Sophomore distance runner with potential to make a big jump, key part of distance events. Competed at indoor championships in the Distance Medley this past winter.
Emma Burr – Sophomore who competed in the NCAA Division III National Championships last season in the Heptathlon as a first year, key part of team that won NAC Championship last season - placing first in five separate events at the NAC Championship. Holds several school records.
Mary DiSanto – Graduate Student who placed first in the NAC Championship in Shot Put and Discus last season, holds several school records in throwing events.
Julia Reny – Senior thrower/sprinter, won the NAC Championship for Javelin in 2023, has all-conference placements in 100m Hurdles and 4x400 Relay.
 
Outdoor Track & Field will compete in meets across both the state and the country. Their 2025 schedule is as follows:
 
March 15th, 2025 – @ Riverside City College – TBD
April 11th – April 12th, 2025 - @ Saint Joseph's College of Maine – 12:00 PM & 9:00 AM
April 19th, 2025 - @ Bowdoin College – 10:00 AM
April 26th – April 27th, 2025 – NAC Championship @ Colby College – TBD
May 2nd – May 3rd, 2025 – NCAA Division III New England Championships – TBD - TBD

Outdoor Track & Field will be back in action when they travel to Riverside, California, to compete at Riverside City College on Saturday, March 15th, 2025. Meet time is TBD.
